Saturday nights at 11pm on 93.5 FM in Newfoundland!

I'm sure this will come off sounding like a nagging mother, but I digress.

This is important for those who spent a lot of time in night clubs. Whether you're watching bands or DJ's they're all very LOUD! This especially includes employees of these venues.

Nothing wrong with partying it up but I highly recommend you do so safely.

Sound levels at these venues are so high they can cause permanent hearing damage within minutes.

There's no law governing against loud entertainment venues in Canada, and personally I don't feel there should be. Most people go to these places, or to concerts, to hear loud music and dance. Keeping it within "safe" levels would definitely take away from the experience. Plus, it's not just downtown. Cranking up your favorite tunes in the car easily reaches damaging sound levels.

Surprising, right? Most people wouldn't knowingly enter situations hazardous to their health. But for whatever reason, maybe it's because of unawareness, or because there's no immediate "permanent" effect (Oh yeah, that ringing in your ears the next morning -- NOT GOOD!) it happens on a regular basis.

Research has shown that most hearing loss is due to constant exposure to loud sounds, NOT age!

If you work at or frequent loud venues I recommend a set of custom fit ear plugs, or just some cheap ones you can get from the pharmacy. Go ahead and laugh, sure it's not "cool" but without protection hearing damage can and will occur. You'll thank me for this advice later in life!

Keep the party going! Safe & responsibly as always.
